The case of difficult in pregnancy is not only because of women who are infertile. Male fertility problems can also reduce the chance of pregnancy. Whether it's due to lack of quantity or quality of sperm.

Tomatoes help increase male fertility

Not just a mere figment, tomatoes can make men good in their sexual life. This is revealed by a report published by the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio that the content in tomatoes can affect male fertility.

The content that is considered will increase male fertility in tomatoes is lycopene, which is one of the substances forming carotenoids. These are antioxidants that give bright colors to tomatoes.

These antioxidants can counteract free radicals that are usually formed from consumption of unhealthy foods. As we know that unhealthy food, full of fat and calories can reduce sperm quality.

In the study, it was found that lycopene in tomatoes could increase the number of sperm by 70 percent.

When lycopene enters the body, the body will absorb 20-30 percent of the total of lycopene. Lycopene will be spread to several parts of the body. One of the most common parts of lycopene is the testis, the place where sperm is produced.

Not only the amount, sperm quality is also better

Quality sperm can be seen from three important factors, namely sperm count, shape and movement. If there is one factor that which is not good, for example, sperm movements are less agile and fast, then men will be at risk of being infertile.

Lycopene in tomatoes has been shown to increase sperm count. Other studies conducted at the University of Sheffield England proved that lycopene can actually help improve sperm quality and reduce DNA damage, thereby increasing the number of mature sperm. Therefore, tomatoes are believed to increase male fertility.
